Voici les nouvelles de la semaine:

Mme Rochat nous a transmis les lettres officielles d'invitation du comité d'organisation du festival de Shanghai et de Pékin. Les organisateurs de Shanghai for des données que nous avons fourni ont pondu une lettre circulaire de présentation qui sera diffusée pour nous annoncer.

La Musique Municipale de Meyrin Genève

(The Meyrin-Geneva Municipal brass band )

was founded in October 1908 by a group of young passionate musicians, professionals for the greater part.
At that time only male musicians where accepted, it however emerged rapidly into a solid ensemble. As in
every musical body the family links were at that time very strong. The fathers introduced their sons and one
would meet up to three musicians' generations playing the same instrument.
Out of that rather small group quickly emerged an important brass band, which got very popular and was
invited to perform in most of the Geneva official happenings. The band remained exclusively male until
1972, the first musicians women where accepted to join in and the same year the Music school of Meyrin-
Geneve was created, offering to every child the possibility of learning to play a musical instrument. The
number of musicians increased up to 40 musicians
The Meyrin-Geneve Municipal Brass band obtained several prices of excellence in particular in the 1970
and from 1998 on it was also the favourite Brass band of the famous Swiss radio program " Le Kiosque à
Musique”
From 2002 on the Meyrin-Geneve Municipal Brass Band is conducted by the highly skilled trombonist
Carlo Cambiaso. The number of musicians increased to 50. Today this band is the favourite band of most
official happenings in Switzerland and abroad.
The Meyrin-Geneva Municipal Brass Band is composed of 49 musicians, i.o. 6 trombonists, 6 clarinettists,
4 bass, 10 saxophonists, 8 trumpets, 6 cross flutes, 6 baritone, 1 valve cornet, 1percussionist, 1 conductor,
and 2 flag-wearers.
An evening with the Meyrin-Geneva Municipal Brass band is a guarantee for success. The band presents
modern rhymed music. They are specialised in putting rhythm into the surroundings and happiness into
the air.
Their favourites composers : Georges Gershwin, Glenn Miller and of course the Beatles in concert.
